Selena Kuch Nursing Scholarship
The Selena Kuch Nursing Scholarship was founded in the Summer of 2020.
We are striving to achieve endowment status so we can support the next generation of caregivers with a recurring annual scholarship that will support the local community. College of DuPage plays a critical role for students like Selena, where older and returning students find the flexibility that is critical as students juggle family and work while attending college.
About Selena
After staying home to raise her two children, Selena returned to school to become a nurse. She attended College of DuPage taking prerequisite courses in addition to receiving her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate.
Selena felt it important to be comfortable working with patients before she became a nurse so she worked nights part-time as a Patient Care Tech at a local hospital while studying in COD’s nursing program. Selena earned her Associates in Nursing enabling her to pass her R.N. examination in 2009. While working as a full-time nurse at a local hospital, she continued her schooling and earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Unfortunately, after 11 years of nursing Selena was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in 2020 which has since ended her nursing career. Since our community lost the services of an excellent nurse and we are seeing a nursing shortage throughout America, we decided shortly after her diagnosis to start a new scholarship at College of DuPage to aid future nurses to achieve their R.N..
Thank you for considering to support the Selena Kuch Nursing Scholarship.
